LMTD (Log Mean Temperature Difference):
The LMTD is the Logarithmic average of the temperature difference between the hot and cold streams at each end of the exchanger. 
The larger the LMTD more heat is transferred.
Where,
                        Thi – temperature of hot fluid inlet (K).
                        Tho – temperature of hot fluid outlet (K).
                        Tci – temperature of cold fluid inlet (K).
                        Tco – temperature of cold fluid outlet (K).
Parallel flow heat exchanger:
            In parallel flow heat exchangers both hot fluid and cold fluid flow in same direction.
Counter flow heat exchanger:
In counter flow heat exchangers both hot fluid and cold fluid flow in opposite direction.
 Note: Decide whether you have parallel flow heat exchanger or counter flow heat exchanger and proceed below with the LMTD value for your respective heat exchanger.
Correction factor:
Based of the exchanger configuration obtain the Temperature correction factor.
 For 1 shell-2 tube pass exchanger
After calculating the correction factor (Ft) for your respective type heat exchanger, 
multiply it with the LMTD value to get the mean temperature difference.             - 4
